Just When I Was About to Buy My Clippers Jersey...

...I find out they are cursed!! I'm not a huge basketball fan, college football is obviously the most exciting sport. But I admit sometimes I can jump on the basketball bandwagon. When the Mavericks had their run in the playoffs a few years ago I got excited and even asked my sister to buy me a Dirk Nowitski Tshirt. And when my beloved Sooners made a run during the NCAA tournament this year, I learned who Blake Griffin was. After actually seeing him play I became an instant fan - not just because he's good, but because he is so good he managed to make basketball exciting, which I think is saying something considering my loyalty to football.

So as a new Blake Griffin fan, I was really hoping the Bobcats would get the #1 lottery pick and thus get Blake, but unfortunately they did not and so Blake will be playing for the LA Clippers. I knew the Clippers were bad because (1) obviously, they were in the lottery to get the first pick and (2) Jay Leno made fun of them a lot. But my initial optimistic response to the pick was "well that's okay, he'll have the opportunity to turn around this terrible team. And, I know people in LA so I could still see him play whenever I go visit." However, after reading an open letter to Blake Griffin from The Sports Guy I'm now very worried for Blake's health and future career. Apparently the Clippers aren't just a terrible team, they are the worst franchise team in history. Who knew? Not this non-basketball fan. Needless to say, I am a little worried, sad, and disappointed for Blake. I truly hope that The Sports Guy is wrong and that this is finally the year that a Clippers #1 forward pick doesn't have a career ending injury or any drama. His open letter is here if you want to read it, but if you're a Blake fan or don't like reading depressing things I warn you not to read the facts.
