Who Can We Trust Anymore?

Oh the drama!! In case you missed it (and I did - thank you to Amy P. for the alerting text), Ed & Jillian appeared on Good Morning America today to clear up rumors reported in this week's US Weekly magazine about Ed having a girlfriend back home during and after the show. Ed was apparently dating his 'college sweetheart' and had promised to marry her in the near future, but then said he had to go away for 2 weeks because he wanted to get on TV. Because that's normal? Then he supposedly emailed the sweetheart during the show telling her he loved her, he hoped to come home soon, and had decided he preferred blondes over brunettes. About 3 days after that email Ed did leave to 'save his job' and US Weekly has pictures of Ed & the blonde sweetheart together during that time. Then Ed reportedly told the sweetheart and another brunette girl he was dating that he had to go to Texas for a business trip when in reality he was going back to the show/Jillian. US Weekly is also reporting that Ed slept with the sweetheart a day after proposing to Jillian and in my favorite line of the article it then says, "A day later, he tried to bed a different woman..." (Not gonna lie, I definitely LOL-ed at that phrase; well done US Weekly writer.)

Reality Steve must be having a field day with this since he first claimed these rumors, but due to his inability to get positive evidence, he left it at that - 'rumors'. Jillian & Ed seem pretty adamant in the GMA interview that there's no truth to any of it. They claim they are being targeted because of their happiness together. Jillian says if these girls were really coming forward to protect her then they should have gone about it in a different way. I'm not totally sure how else she thinks these girls would have been able to contact her, maybe she wanted them to friend her on facebook & then write it on her wall? Or send a tweet? Or contact Chris Harrison to let her relationship sensei be the one to break the news to her instead of reading it in US Weekly?

I'm not sure yet if I believe all this, it is very suspicious but at the same time it just seems pretty strange and I keep coming back to the "Why in the world would Ed do this; What's in it for him?" questions. I mean it's not like he had a CD he was trying to sell or a budding acting career. And if it's true that he had no problems in the 'bedding ladies department' it seems like that wouldn't be a reason to go on a reality dating show in which he had a 3.33% chance of actually walking away with a relationship. Maybe he really was an aspiring TV personality cleverly disguised as a dedicated IT employee? Or maybe this is all a conspiracy theory by ABC to introduce us to the blonde sweetheart so that America will feel sorry for her and thus she will become the next Bachelorette? I'm sure more details and discussions will emerge regarding this very important issue. I'm also sure I'll spend way too much time reading about it all.

The bottom line for me is this:

I just don't trust someone who would choose to wear those shorty shorts and that terrycloth tank top. You know who I do trust? Our Host Chris Harrison...and also Reid.
