My history with The Bachelor & Bachelorette series has been somewhat of a love/hate relationship over the years. I originally got completely addicted in college starting with Season 2 Bachelor Aaron. To this day I'm still mad he picked Helene ( sometimes I have a hard time letting go and moving on from upsetting events...see also Chris Weinke's undeserving Heisman Trophy win in 2000). Despite the upsetting outcome, from that season on I was hooked for several more seasons, my friends in college and I had dinner party nights to all watch together on Thursdays and some even participated in an NCAA bracket style competition to see who could pick the winner. I got off the bandwagon after the Jesse Palmer season (who I will never take seriously as a sportscaster thanks to his participation in the series) because of a string of bad choices by ABC for the Bachelor and Bachelorette. They should have really asked me...or at least reviewed my nomination sent in for Blackwell Johnson to be the Bachelor. However, The Bachelorette season with DeAnna Pappas completely reeled me back in and I'm back to crazy-fan-level status. All the shadiness with the Jason/Molly/Melissa triangle last season did cause some frustration and I still don't know if I believe if it was real or staged. And while I may or may not have said at one time that if Jason dumped Melissa on TV I would quit watching (along with the rest of America), I believe if that did come out of my mouth than "quit watching" obviously meant I would quit watching Jason's TV appearances, not the show. Plus look at how well that turned out for Melissa and her dancing with the stars career, so maybe it was a win/win situation. Regardless though moving on from this event has proven much easier because I am super excited for the new Bachelorette, Jillian! Honestly my number 1 reason for excitement may be to see what she will wear this season because her clothes on The Bachelor were so darn great. Number 2 reason is for all the Canadian references and to imitate her accent while watching. Ya know, eh!?
If you are not familiar with www.ihategreenbeans.com, I definitely recommend that you check it out. Lincee from Texas provides hilarious recaps of the episodes! Chris Harrison also blogged for Pop Watch at Entertainment Weekly after last season's episodes and if he does again I'll post a link to that as well. The first rose ceremony is in two short weeks on May 18th!!
