I Wish it was Christmas Today...

Yes...I realize it's Tuesday and in my last post I promised my predictions regarding the contestants vying for the coveted title of Jake's co-pilot for life by last Friday. I apologize for not coming through - I should have known that a short week at work means more work! So, predictions will come as soon as possible (I'm not giving firm deadlines anymore!). Votes Are In: Bizarre, NOT Brilliant

Well it's official - according to the majority of my friends, the Etre Touchy gloves that I wrote about last week are definitely in the bizarre category. Not only did I receive threats of constant chastising should I wear them, but I also received several alternative suggestions from friends who were worried about my fashion choices.

My friend Katie sent me an email suggesting these beauties from J. Crew:
Katie said, "Of course, it is J. Crew, so it's not as bank account-friendly as your Target ones, but it has the mitten cover that keeps your finger tips warm when you're not typing on your iPhone (is that called typing?) or tying your shoes or using your chopsticks." Yes Katie that is called typing. And yes, these J. Crew gloves do appear to be a much more fashionable solution to the problematic combination of cold weather and iphones/shoelaces/chopsticks.

The next suggestion is from a different "friend". She found these gloves on her own while shopping at Forever 21. Now I - I mean, my "friend"- admits to having a moral dilemma every time she enters Forever 21 since, sadly, she is not and will not be forever 21. But with the end of her 20's decade fast approaching she's trying to shop there as much as possible because she's pretty sure that should she try to enter Forever 21 after the age of 29 alarms will sound and giant jail cell type bars will descend from the ceiling to trap her as security guards shout "30-year old alert!". I know...my friend needs help. Anyway, here are the gloves "she" saw:
As you can see, these gloves have small slits on the thumb and index finger so you can discreetly slip your fingers out of the gloves for typing on your iphone, tying your shoelaces, or eating sushi with chopsticks. These are also the most economical out of the group at $2.80 a pair. However I will not vouch for their quality and it's quite possible they will become nothing but a pile of thread after one wear. At least that's what my "friend" has sometimes experienced with Forever 21 products.

Team Kevin! Team McKinley High!

Today is bittersweet... it's season finale night for two of my new faves for the fall/winter TV season. While I'll be sad to see these shows leave for a while it is necessary to make room for the important shows coming up in the new year (I think you know what I'm talking about). First is Glee, which has received ample press on the breezy blog. I'm not ashamed to admit that this completely unrealistic show full of "teenagers" breaking out into spontaneous songs has won me over. I love the characters, song selections, and haven't made it through an episode without LOL-ing at least once (I feel validated using teenage acronyms to describe a high school musical brand of show). If you haven't watched an episode yet tonight is your last chance until it returns in April after American Idol - a.k.a. the cult I always unsuccessfully try to avoid getting sucked into each year. The second finale airing tonight is Top Chef. While this show has been on for several seasons this is the first one that I tuned in for. I'm not much of a cook so cooking shows aren't really on my radar. Competitions and reality TV however? All over the radar. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this season and if you'll remember it even inspired me to attempt making homemade guacamole. While that didn't turn out so well for me I've still loved the show and just realized to stick to my gift of eating food instead of making it.

Tonight I'm pulling for Kevin Gillespie of Atlanta to be named Top Chef. Not only does Kevin rock a fantastic beard, he also promotes slow food and simple cooking. After my second favorite contestant Jennifer was eliminated last week it's down to Kevin vs. the Voltaggio brothers tonight. While the Voltaggios may have one of the coolest last names ever, it's unfortunate that they don't possess the cool personalities to match it. That might be a little on the harsh side - but Michael just comes across as arrogant and I don't think his brother Bryan has cracked a smile all season. Thank You for Flying Rose Air

One month from today it all starts again friends...The hot tubs, cat fights, helicopters*, intoxicated accusations of being here for the "wrong reasons", slow motion recaps, crying over balconies, reminders that the "ladies" are not here to make friends, dramatic rose ceremonies, exotic dates, Our Host Chris Harrison (!), and general awkwardness yet awesomeness return! I'd like to thank ABC for picking January 4, 2010 as the premiere date because after a holiday vacation from work that Monday will undoubtedly feel long. But with an exciting premiere to look forward to I do believe the day will go faster. Is it wrong to use TV shows for motivation through the day? If so I'm not sure I want to be right.
*I'm predicting this season we'll see more planes than helicopters...planes of course being piloted by non other than our very own Bachelor pilot.

I saw a preview video on Lincee's blog and then did a little YouTube research of my own to find this clip which I have to say made me even more excited.


Rose Air!! Airplane jargon puns and jokes!! Accusations of being fake!! Roses thrown in the fire!!! I truly hope that ABC has found a way to make Jake more exciting than our experience of him with Jillian was. I think throwing roses in fire is an excellent start! 30 days and counting...
